Those Were Dark Times,
and Hare Paid the Price!
Step into a war-torn city where justice is elusive, and the sense of good and bad is lost. In this intense scenario, "Those Were Dark Times, and Hare Paid the Price!" participants become soldiers grappling with their roles in wartime atrocities. Under police interrogation, they must decide—hide behind lies or face the truth—as the city boils with fear and hatred.
This is a story about the corrosive effects of evil, the crushing weight of responsibility, and the struggle for national identity in a time of chaos. It examines how individuals respond to extreme pressures: do they succumb to the environment of hatred and revenge, or do they find the strength to question their choices and resist? Through the lens of deeply flawed and morally compromised characters, the narrative explores the dark corners of human behavior, where retribution often masquerades as justice and the boundaries of identity blur under the weight of war.
At its heart, this Larp is an exploration of:
Evil: How it spreads, takes root, and transforms ordinary people into perpetrators or complicit bystanders.
Responsibility: How the burden of one's actions—and inactions—shapes the psyche, especially in the face of collective atrocities.
National Identity: How individuals wrestle with the expectations placed on them by their country, community, and heritage during moments of extreme crisis.
Retribution: How cycles of vengeance perpetuate violence and whether redemption is possible amidst such darkness.
The story revolves around five interconnected characters who have survived the fall of one city only to find themselves enmeshed in another battleground where suspicion, loyalty, and guilt intertwine. Each carries their own secrets, traumas, and justifications, but the truth cannot be hidden forever.
As participants, you will embody these characters, stepping into their fractured lives and exploring the choices that define them. Through police interrogations, tense confrontations, and introspective moments, you will uncover the deeper questions about humanity:
How do we justify the unjustifiable?
What does it mean to belong in a divided world?
Is there a path to redemption when blood stains your hands?
This Larp challenges players to navigate the shadows of morality, to confront the weight of responsibility, and to explore how human bonds persist—or fracture—under the relentless pressure of war. It’s an opportunity to craft a narrative that probes the extremes of human behavior while asking whether, even in the darkest times, there is room for light.
